During his twenty four years of lecturing Art, he introduced graphics, photography and wildlife illustration to the curriculum before retiring as Principal Lecturer in 1986. Julian took early retirement to pursue a full-time career in painting and to follow his other interests- industrial archaeology, engineering, bird watching and mountain walking.
